Tribals or adivasis in India, have been the first settlers of the undistributed forests, mountains, and valleys, where in they have developed various domains of socio-cultural life. Music, Dance, Folklore and songs, which are an integral part of their culture, have also been developed therein. Each tribe has maintained its uniqueness about aesthetics. At the same time many tribes also share certain aspects of dance in music in common.

I strongly believe that the theatrical aspect[s] of the traditional dances of India such as Kathak, Kathakali etc., have their roots in folk dance forms. These artists may have borrowed several aspects from tribal dances in the due course of development. […]
