PANAJI: Tribal welfare minister Ramesh Tawadkar announced three more schemes for tribal people. Tawadkar announced the “Gagan Bharari Shiksha Yojana” to provide additional financial assistance to scheduled tribe students as the maintenance allowance given under the post-matric scholarship is inadequate to meet expenses on food and travel. The second scheme is for construction of multi-purpose community halls (Sanskriti Bhavan) in areas inhabited by the tribal community. The cost of the project including cost of land shall not exceed 50 lakh.
The third scheme “to support orphans of widow belonging to ST community” aims at meeting the expenditure on food, clothing, shelter till the children attain 18 years of age. […]
