The third edition of the Raasrang World Flute Festival 2012, organised by the Krishna Prerna Foundation in association with the Ministry of Culture will see flautists from around the world congregate to showcase the magic of this humble instrument. […]

Arun Buddhiraja, Founder of the Krishna Prerna Foundation, elaborates: “This year’s theme is ‘Love, Peace, and Water’. These will be depicted via mediums like artwork, demonstrations, workshops and performances. The festival will focus especially on the tribal/folk musicians and seek to bring them and their arts into the limelight.”

[…] the festival is set to offer a mind-boggling array of flute-performances. Participants trained in various gharanas like Kirana and Benares, alongwith those from faraway countries like Mexico and Turkey will add to the surreal quotient.

Buddhiraja also says, “There will be an exhibition of special Indian wind instruments such as Pungi and Kaaliya; a unique workshop combining the principles of Yoga and the therapeutic flute; and a special session using the vibrations of chants and flute notes to relax and rejuvenate the mind, among others.”
